Alpine Trail: Maintenance Snoqualmie Pass

This is a climbers trail that takes steep ascents up ravines and ridge lines. The combined impacts of hikers, snow melt, and gravity have filled the trail tread with eroded gullies and loose rock. In addition, many braided trail sections have spread the user impacts on an alpine setting.

Objective: to reduce the user impact by closing off wandering hiker paths
Solution: improve the main trail, mask braided path, reduce loose rock and armour where possible on the main trail

Objective: to reduce the susceptibility of advanced erosion on “fall-line” sections of trail
Solution: adjust the trail into climbing turns, build but limit the use of stone steps, provide for the safety of users

this is a pro bono labor of love and each time I’ve staged a work party I’ve had a full moon for my summit campout!
