In March, the State Legislature adopted a capital budget for the 2020 session that includes key funding for property acquisitions on the Little Spokane River drainage system thanks to Representative Riccelli District #3. The funding will create the Waikiki Springs Nature Preserve.
The Spokane Tribe and the Inland Northwest Lands Council will work toward creating salmon habitat and educational opportunities on this sensitive river.
We are so pleased that the community stewardship efforts that were pursued for 3 years with the leadership from Fairwood I and II, the Fairwood Farmers Market, the Inland Northwest Lands Council, Nicoterra Trails, Mead School District, the Department of Fish and Wildlfe, and other groups are becoming reality.
